Who is this course for?

This is the most popular first aid qualification. The Two (2) days Paediatric First aid at work qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations

The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid at Work (RQF) is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirement of first aid regulations; typically those working in nurseries, schools, residential care settings, childminders etc .

This qualification is available to those over 16 years. Candidates should be at least a level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent.

Course Content

Unit 1

  • Ø  Understand the role and responsibilities of a Pediatric first aider
  • Ø  Be able to assess an incident
  • Ø  Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Ø  Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Ø  Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking
  • Ø  Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
  • Ø  Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
  • Unit 2
  • Ø  Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture
  • Ø  Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with head, neck or back injury
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Ø  Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant and a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and co
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds
  • Ø  Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned
  • Ø  Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child with anaphylaxis
